Bosch Rexroth plans takeover of Hydraulic System Division of Maestranza Diesel in Peru

Bosch Rexroth sees great potential for growth in the mining and construction industries in Peru. This is why Bosch Rexroth is now planning to take over the hydraulic business unit of Maestranza Diesel based in Lima/Peru.

Maestranza Diesel is a long standing partner of Bosch Rexroth who distributes Bosch Rexroth products such as hydraulic motors, pumps, and valves to the Peruvian mining and construction industries and provides field services. 

Agreements to the planned takeover were signed on May 3rd, 2017. The takeover of the Hydraulic System Division with its 27 associates is subject to final approval by the authorities in relevant jurisdictions. It has been agreed that the purchase price will not be disclosed. 

“This acquisition is of great strategic importance to us. Together with the Maestranza Diesel team, we will be able to lift the growth potential in the Peruvian mining and industrial automation market,” says Manfred Al-Kayal, regional president of Bosch Rexroth in South America. 

In Peru, mining and construction industries show a great potential for growth for the coming years. The Peruvian mining industry is very competitive on the global market. The reasons for this are high mining revenues, relatively low energy costs in Peru due to large natural gas reserves and the local salary structure. Only the mining activities increased about 9.5 percent in 2015. Other Bosch Rexroth-relevant activities as Energy, Manufacturing Industry and Marine & Offshore are also showing considerable growth. 

The hydraulic business unit of Maestranza Diesel has a very sound knowledge of the local market and its own long-established customer base. With the planned acquisition Bosch Rexroth will get direct market access and can respond much quicker and stronger to the wishes and needs of its customers in Peru. 

In 2014, Bosch Rexroth acquired the hydraulic system division of Maestranza Diesel in Chile. Since this takeover, the newly founded Bosch Rexroth Chile expanded its presence throughout the country inaugurating three locations (Santiago, Concepción and Antofagasta) and built up its market leadership by increasing its turnover in Chile by 50 percent. 

“After the acquisition of the hydraulic system division of Maestranza Diesel in Chile in 2014, the acquisition of the hydraulic business unit of Maestranza Diesel in Peru will now enable us to expand our presence as solutions provider in the industrial automation sector in South America,” says Al-Kayal. 

Already since 1964 Bosch Rexroth is represented with subsidiaries in South America. The company has sales offices in Argentina, Venezuela, Columbia, Peru, Chile and Brazil as well as a production site in Pomerode, Brazil. Bosch Rexroth employs about 800 associates in South America.
