Junttan selects Volvo Penta as engine partner in next-generation equipment

Junttan, the Finnish foundation equipment specialist, has partnered with Volvo Penta to power its next-generation machines – starting with the new DR5 drilling rig – uniting shared values, technical strength, and a long-term vision for reliable, future-ready solutions.

The DR5 drilling rig marks the launch of a new chapter for Junttan, as the company introduces its new-generation product line powered by Volvo Penta engines. The DR5 is the first model to feature the high-performance Stage V / Tier 4f Volvo Penta TAD1385VE, a powerful engine with a compact design that delivers 405 kW, aimed to meet the demands of specialist equipment with rigorous uptime and reliability requirements.

Junttan began its search for a new powertrain partner in 2020 to future-proof its equipment for modern job site demands. After evaluating the market, Volvo Penta was selected for its extended maintenance intervals, compact engine design, scalable power options, and robust global service network — but just as importantly, for a cultural fit that emphasized agility, transparency, and shared values.
