Systematic: function-integrated profiles from Rexroth with internal cable guide

When machine frames are designed, cabling is often not given any thought or is at best an afterthought. The profiles are usually retrofitted with cable ducts, subsequently altering the design and increasing the assembly and installation work involved. However, thanks to our innovative profile junctions, Bosch Rexroth’s new function-integrated profiles (FIPs) feature a fully internal cable guide that can run through and out of our profile butt junctions. The FIP range comprises four profile cross-sections for market launch with a catalog of accessories which also complements the modular system. The entire solution can be combined with the established Rexroth modular profile system and provides an unprecedented level of design flexibility.

The function-integrated profiles feature an innovative concept which enables robust frame designs boasting a fully internal cable guide which is already integrated into the profiles. The connection elements are the real standout features: unique profile junctions continue the internal cable guide of the corner and longitudinal profiles and hence ensure continuous internal cabling which can run through and out of our profile butt junctions and can be removed from the frame at any point along the route. The advantage with this is that the cable duct installation that would otherwise be required is largely rendered redundant and subsequent changes to the frame construction are no longer needed. This saves time and money and also has the potential for major savings in terms of the use of parts.

An important requirement of occupational health and safety is that wires with different current types must be kept physically separate from each other. This is ensured by separators, which are installed in the profiles via existing separator slots. They enable the separate cabling of data, power and hose lines. This way, the FIPs fulfill the legally imposed EMC requirements for electrical installations. Unused separator slots can be used in the future for any necessary cable equipment which was not included in the original design plans. The profiles also provide enough room for the internal 10-mm groove which, for example, enables sockets to be attached.

The solution has been certified by the VDE (German Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies) and boasts impressive design freedom. On account of the fact that the FIP range is based on the 40-mm grid standard, it can be combined and expanded with all basic mechanic element profiles from this profile raster. An extensive catalog of accessories, including end covers, separators, cover caps, edge protectors and base plates, provides production planners and frame designers with additional benefits.

One of the other standout features of the FIP system are the grooveless exteriors which, thanks to the hinged smooth cover, ensure that the profiles have a standardized finish. This ensures a clean look throughout the entire construction. Customers can choose between plastic parts in signal gray or black finishes. The gray finish creates less of a contrast with the frame construction whereas the black version is suitable for ESD protected areas.
