Service life increased by 80 percent

Bosch Rexroth has achieved an up to 80 percent increase in the service life of its ball screw assemblies thanks to continuously improved production processes. Design engineers are thus able to use smaller sizes for the same power requirements. At the same time, Bosch Rexroth has shortened the delivery time for its customized ball screw assemblies through the digitalization of engineering and ordering processes, as well as optimized logistics processes. In Europe, for example, some of these assemblies are delivered from the factory within 24 hours.

As a leading manufacturer of linear motion technology, Bosch Rexroth has relied on the cold shaping rolling process for screw manufacturing for decades. During this time the company has continuously increased its manufacturing expertise and improved its processes. At the same time, the manufacturer has also further developed the processes for producing nuts. These improvements in both screw and nut production have increased the dynamic load capacity of the ball screw assemblies in the accuracy classes T3 and T5 by 20 percent. The dynamic load capacity is a decisive parameter for the size selection and the service life of ball screw assemblies. 

The improved dynamic load capacity increases the nominal life of the ball screw assemblies from Rexroth by up to 80 percent. Comprehensive stress and life cycle tests in various usage scenarios validate these values. The increased load capacity leads directly to an increase in power density. Design engineers can therefore use a smaller size in many cases to deliver the same required amount of power. This reduces system costs, saves installation space and lowers the weight.

Short delivery times thanks to modern logistics and lean processes

Screws and nuts are basic components that Bosch Rexroth manufactures centrally at its factory in Schweinfurt/Volkach. The factory supplies regional warehouses in all major markets. Bosch Rexroth thus offers consistently high quality with short delivery times worldwide. At the Customizing Centers in Europe, Asia and America, the screws are cut to length and the ends are machined according to the customer's specific requirements. 

Rexroth has now collected the configurable linear motion systems and components ordered most often into the GoTo Focused Delivery Program. In Europe, for instance, the company is able to deliver ball screw assemblies from the GoTo Focused Delivery Program within 3 to 5 working days, sometimes even within 24 hours.

Digitalized configuration and ordering 

Rexroth has digitalized the entire engineering and ordering process. Using the Linear Motion Designer (LMD) calculation tool, design engineers can determine the appropriate ball screw assemblies. In the next step, they can change to the configuration tool and immediately see whether the selected component is part of the GoTo Focused Delivery Program. Following individual configuration, registered users can place all components into their shopping cart in the Rexroth eShop. But before the binding order is placed, the system shows the delivery date and the price.
