New control block for wheeled loaders and dozers: energy-efficient with high pressure

The new modular control block RS15WL from Rexroth offers significantly improved energy efficiency thanks to reduced pressure losses along with all the advantages of a load pressure-independent flow control (LUDV).

With a significantly increased pressure level and greater range of functions, it is specially designed for the requirements of implement hydraulics in dozers and wheeled loaders up to 16 tons.

Thanks to a reduction in pressure losses of up to 40 percent compared to the preceding M6-15 generation, the new central control block in sandwich plate design increases significantly the energy efficiency of implement hydraulics. This reduces the diesel consumption and the corresponding exhaust emissions of wheeled loaders and dozers.

Simultaneously, the new control block supports the vehicle manufacturer on the way towards higher pressures. RS15WL is designed for operating pressures of up to 380 bar and a maximum pressure of 430 bar. This allows designers to create a slimmer stroke and tip cylinder, thus saving installation space. The control block is fully compatible with axial piston pumps A11VO from Rexroth.

The LUDV control block is suitable for circuits with a pump displacement of up to 200 l/min. If this flow is insufficient to supply all consumers with the desired amount, the LUDV function slows down all movements at the same rate - but no consumer stops. This increases safety and operating convenience.

The modular layout with disc segments increases flexibility for the application-specific realization of diverse functions. The high-performance regeneration of up to 100 percent improves control during simultaneous movements and reduces energy consumption. It also supports faster stroke lowering with different loads without cavitation, as well as faster forward tipping with parallel kinematics. In addition, the control block optimizes the "power lowering", whereby the dozer blade remains in contact with the ground.

Other functions reduce shovel vibration while driving and fulfill the high requirements of load holding. An integrated priority valve reliably supplies the steering and a flushing valve prevents piston jamming by compensating for differences in temperature.

A "load sensing" pressure limitation protects pumps and steering against pressure peaks. The integrated pilot pressure generation is deactivated with a cut-off valve during road use. A second cut-off valve controls an external component, such as a parking brake. Despite the significantly higher pressure level and the extended range of functions, the new control block has an installation space around ten percent shorter than its predecessor.
